The Easter Vigil – The holiest of nights
If you attended the Easter Vigil on April 15, you saw the culmination of the RCIA process in the celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation—Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist--as five new members joined our church, and two Catholics received Confirmation.
The Catechumens baptized were Jami Bailey, sponsor Sherry Fowler; and Trenton Lloyd, sponsor Shawn Stockemer. The Candidates were Jeanne Federico, sponsor Wayne Gile; Paul Bryan, sponsor Yvonne Bryan; and Lester McGuire, sponsor Sharon Campell. Those who received the Sacrament of Confirmation were Kaylee Killgore, sponsor Cory Kroupa; and Matt Bailey, sponsor Sherry Fowler. Others who attended RCIA and hope to join the church soon are: David Smith, Tammy Miller, and Twyla Kreiner. After Mass, Jami and Matt Bailey received the Sacrament of Matrimony as their marriage was blessed by Father Jim. For those of you who were able to attend our Easter Vigil, it was an amazingly joyous and happy occasion to witness.
A reception was held in the parish hall after the service, and all parishioners were invited for refreshments and to welcome our new members. The parish hall decorations, reception table, refreshments and drinks were coordinated and arranged by Mary Goetz. She was helped by volunteers from her family, the Altar Society, and RCIA team members. Thanks to all of them because the reception couldn’t happen without their contribution of time, talent, and treasure.
RCIA Tuesday evening classes end on May 2 with our “Last Supper” covered dish dinner, but we look forward to seeing each other at Mass and parish events. Please pray for the RCIA class so that their faith will always remain strong. Thank you, Diana Wolfe
