RCIA Celebrates the Rite of Acceptance and Welcoming On Sunday Oct. 23 at the 8:30 Mass St. Jude had seven non-Catholic Inquirers who came forward to receive the Rite of Acceptance and Welcoming. During this ceremony each one told Father Jim what they asked of God’s Church, they each received “Signing of the Senses” by their sponsors, and received a cross and a Bible. Those who participated were: David Smith, sponsor David Walsh; Jami Bailey, sponsor Sherry Fowler; Jeanne Federico, sponsor Wayne Gile; Paul Bryan, sponsor Yvonne Bryan; Trenton Lloyd, sponsor stand-in Chris Benefield; Tammy Miller, sponsor Carolyn Nungesser; and Lester McGuire, sponsor Sharon Campbell. Other members of our class are Kaylee Killgore and Twyla Kreiner. Every Sunday at 8:30 Mass the RCIA participants gather in the front pews and then are dismissed after the homily. When they leave Mass with an RCIA team member, they are going to St. Theresa’s room to discuss the Mass readings and homily. This is to help them understand and experience more fully the impact of the scriptures in our everyday lives. This time together every Sunday is known as “Breaking Open the Word.” Please pray for the RCIA process and those who are on this journey of faith. Diana Wolfe.
